If our customer service team hears a question more than a couple of times a week, we prepare an answer and post it here. Because if you have a question, chances are you're not the only one. |
|
| Q: Are electric scooters easy to ride? |
|
A: If you can ride a bicycle, you can ride an electric scooter. Get on, turn the
key and go. All you need is a little balance. The more you ride, the more it will
become second nature, and it will seem like you've had one forever. Remember, no
matter how short the ride,
always wear a helmet.
|
| Q: Are electric scooters safe? |
|
A: A scooter is a two-wheeled vehicle. If you ride it with care, you are as safe as you are on a bicycle. If you push your luck and try doing some trick riding,
there's a good chance you will hurt yourself. You can protect yourself by
avoiding cars and always wearing protective clothing, like a helmet and long sleeve
clothing.
|
| Q: Are electric scooters legal? |
|
A: Laws regarding electric scooters vary by country, state and municipality.
Small electric scooters are explicitly allowed by law in California and several other US states.
Some states have no regulations relating to small electric scooters,
while most allow scooters in any format to be licensed and used on public roads.
|
| Q: What is the range of the electric scooter? How far will it go? |
|
A: The maximum distance of EVT Scooter depends on a few things: the weight of the rider, type of terrain, wind resistance and speed the scooter is driven. With a 165-pound rider on a flat surface under normal driving conditions, the range will
vary from 25 and 45 miles. Another factor is the quality
and condition of the individual
batteries. It's a good idea to test your scooter around home before you take it
on a long haul and discover your batteries are drained. |
| Q: What precaution should a driver take so as not to run out of energy on the road? |
|
A: EVT Scooters feature an energy gauge on the dashboard. Pay attention to this
as you would your car's gas gauge to determine your battery charge level. For this
LED gauge green means fully charged, a persistent blinking yellow means you have less than 5 miles of battery charge left and red means get to an outlet SOON. Another
warning feature includes a warning beep to warn you as you approach 10 percent of
a battery charge level. The beep will become more frequent as you get to the ten
percent level. Finally, when you notice a decrease in acceleration power and speed,
it is time to recharge. |
| Q: Is riding an electric scooter comfortable? |
|
A: Electric Scooter feature fully silent operation, so there is no background noise
and no need to wear hearing protection. And the fact that you aren't spewing any
emissions into the ozone ought to make you a little more comfortable.
|
| Q: Do I have to warm up the engine of an electric scooter before riding it? |
|
A: No. Turn the key and go. The only preparation you need is to make sure you are
wearing a helmet. When you turn the key, you should hear three beeps immediately to let you know the scooter is ready to go. If you don't hear any beeps, check your
battery charge level.
|
| Q: How much maintenance does an electric scooter require? |
|
A: Electric scooters require a minimum of maintenance. These scooters have no combustion
engine, no transmission, no belts, no chains, no gasoline, no lubricants, no ignition,
no spark plugs and no carburetor. The design of the Direct Drive system and Hub
Motor EVT scooters easier to maintain than any other
electric or gasoline scooter available.
|
| Q: Is it a problem to get parts for an EVT scooter? |
A: No. Parts are available from multiple resources. Things like tires, brake pads
and bulbs can be found at any scooter supply location. You are not required to buy
them from EVT or an EVT dealer.
EVT patented parts, like the Hub Motor and System Controller are available through
your local EVT Dealer. Your dealer can also sell you replacement batteries as needed. Most EVT Scooter dealers carry an inventory of the most popular parts to make sure
you can keep your scooter on the road. |
| Q: Can an EVT electric scooter get wet? |
|
A: The EVT system uses direct current source and 48Volt system design, so there is no danger from getting the scooter wet. But be careful not to get water in the charger outlet, the controller and the internal battery compartment. Rain or snow will not affect the function of your electric scooter.
|
| Q: Do I need to wear a helmet to ride an electric scooter? |
|
A: Yes. Always. For your own safety, and because we want you to come back and buy
more scooters from us. Local laws may or may not require riders to wear a helmet.
But we highly recommend you wear one while on your scooter. |
| Q: Is it easy to recharge the batteries? |
|
A: Yes. Plug the battery charger into any standard household outlet (AC110V or AC220V).
Charging starts automatically. |
| Q: How long will the batteries last? |
|
A: The batteries should last for between 18 to 24 months with regular and frequent
charging. The battery’s life cycle can be reduced or damaged if a low charge level is retained for a long period of time. Depending on the rider's use, you can expect
between 300 and 500 charging cycles.
|
| Q: How can I know the batteries’ charge level? |
A: The energy gauge on the Scooter dashboard includes a row of LED lights that indicate the charge level of your batteries.
- First Green = FULLY CHARGED
- Second Green = HALF CHARGED
- Yellow = TEN PERCENT REMAINING (You will also hear a Warning Beep. At this level,
charging is recommended).
- Red Light = NO CHARGE (Immediate charging is necessary).
|
| Q: If one battery is bad, do I need to change all the four? |
|
A: Probably not. Have your
EVT dealer test all four batteries and replace the ones
that are failing.
|
| Q: What are the advantages of having an electric scooter? |
|
A: No more stops at the gas pump. But also there is no noise, no pollution, no nasty odors, no emissions, practically no maintenance, easy operation, low cost of energy consumption.
|
| Q: How can I pay for my electric vehicle? |
|
A: EVT Scooters are sold through authorized Bravo EVT dealers. Let us know if you
would like to Become a Dealer.
|
| Q: Is a charger included with my purchase of an electric vehicle? |
|
A: Every Bravo EVT Scooter includes a Battery Charger.
|
| Q: What happens if the vehicle I receive is defective in any way? |
|
A: We carefully inspect all of our scooters before shipping. Report any defects
to your EVT Dealer
as quickly as possible. Make sure to register your EVT Scooter
within 10 days of purchase, to keep the manufacturer's warranty in tact.
|
| Q: What happens if the vehicle breaks? |
|
A: EVT Scooters carry a limited manufacturer’s warranty. If your vehicle
breaks while it is under warranty, contact the manufacturer to have it repaired or replaced
according to the terms of the manufacturer’s warranty. If your vehicle breaks after the warranty expires, we can still provide repairs at your expense. Most major cities
have several scooter repair shops. Phone ahead to make sure they work on Electric
vehicles. Because spare parts are freely available, this is a smart option. |
